WHY WORK WITH ME
What You'll Find Here That You Won't Find Everywhere
Most practitioners are excellent at one thing. A therapist who understands attachment and trauma. A coach who helps you move forward. A breathwork facilitator who holds space for release. A somatic practitioner who works with the body.
What happens here is different. Not because any one of those things is done better — but because all of them happen together, in one container, held by someone who has trained deeply in each dimension and understands how they work on each other.
Two decades of clinical experience means I understand how people are shaped, what drives their patterns, and what it actually takes to make lasting change — not just surface shifts that fade within weeks. Trauma-informed training means I know how to work with what's tender without destabilizing what's fragile. The breathwork goes where conversation can't. The coaching builds forward from what the breathwork opens. The somatic awareness means I'm tracking your nervous system the entire time, not just your words.
And underneath all of it — I've lived the transitions I work with. I know what it feels like to build something significant and realize it no longer fits. To not know what comes next but know you have to let go anyway. That's not something you learn in a training room. It changes how you sit with someone who is in the same place.
What that means for you is this: you don't have to translate yourself across multiple practitioners or piece together your own support. You come as you are, all of it, and everything that needs to be met gets met.
My words land because they come from a real place. I'm selective about what I say and when I say it. When something needs to be named, I name it. When something needs to be held in silence, I hold it. You'll feel the difference between someone performing presence and someone actually present.
You'll feel held from the first conversation. Not managed. Not processed. Genuinely met with warmth, with depth, and with someone who is fully invested in what becomes possible for you.
Who Am I
I've spent twenty years sitting with people through the real moments of change. The ones that don't resolve quickly. The ones that ask something deeper of you.
I also know this terrain from the inside. I've navigated my own identity shifts, my own pivots, my own moments of not quite recognizing the life I'd built. The most recent was selling my seven-figure practice not because it wasn't successful, but because I was ready for something else. I didn't know what was next but I knew I need to let go so something new could emerge. And, in time, that was Mindfully Modern Collective.
What I bring into the room with you isn't just clinical. It's lived.
I believe the most important work is about shedding what no longer fits - the roles, the expectations, the versions of yourself you built for other people or other seasons of your life.
It's about getting honest enough to see what's actually true for you. And then being brave enough to live it fully, unapologetically, in a way your 80 year old self will look back on with pride.
MY APPROACH
Science meets soul. Both fully present. My work blends evidence-based psychology and trauma-informed care with somatic healing, nervous system regulation, and intuitive practice. Not as a menu of modalities but as a unified way of meeting the whole of what you're carrying, at the level it actually lives.
My clinical foundation means I understand how people are shaped, what drives their patterns, and what it actually takes to make lasting change. The somatic and intuitive dimensions take us beyond the mind and into the body, the unconscious, and the places that conversation alone hasn't been able to reach.
I work with the nervous system, the unconscious, the body, the beliefs, and the identity — because it has to be. Real change requires more than one entry point. That's why the shifts tend to hold.
What It’s Like to Work With Me
Clients describe me as warm, relatable, and intuitive — with a direct style and a sense of humor when it fits.
I take time to truly understand you. Your history, your values, what feels heavy, and what you're moving toward. I ask the questions that open the next layer. I name what needs to be named. I hold what needs to be held in silence.
Our work is active and intentional — shaped around what you need most. Together we create real movement through practices that regulate the nervous system, deepen self-trust, and release what's no longer aligned.
“Ilene…i really listened when I spoke. Actually I think she listened so well that she was sometimes able to sense my feelings better than I could… I wouldn't be as happy and healthy as I am today if it weren't for Ilene.” Emily K
Beyond MMC
I live what I teach.
My husband, our furbabies, and I split our time between Chicago, San Diego, and Wisconsin, chasing the sun and intentionally designing our life.
I'm a multipreneur at heart. Beyond MMC, my husband and I co-own two other businesses together. But building things for me has always been about more than business. It's about building a life rooted in identity and values — one that actually reflects who you are, not just what you've achieved.
Outside of work you'll find me scuba diving, dancing, doing Pilates, or getting lost in a good book.
I believe joy is not something you earn after the hard work is done. It belongs in the middle of it.

Every layer exists for the same reason; to meet you at the level where real change actually happens.

“Ilene has a natural ease about her - warm, compassionate, patient, and completely nonjudgmental. She listens so deeply she can often sense feelings before you can name them yourself. I wouldn’t be as happy and healthy as I am today if it weren’t for Ilene.”
Krystle R.
“My experience with Ilene has been absolutely incredible. She is supportive, empathetic, and professional - helping me navigate significant life transitions. Ilene always makes me feel safe to share while offering practical tools I can use every day.”
Victoria S.
After fruitlessly seeking a therapist with a "good fit" for two years, I found Ilene... She helped me become more confident, trust myself and define my personal values to guide me. I attribute my happiness, my mental health and my emotional growth to her support and care. I've encouraged a number of my own friends to see Ilene and those who have shared my enthusiasm.
